Deloitte offers many services to all kinds of companies. I worked in their technology consulting practice in New Zealand. My specialty was enterprise information management. I spent most of my time seconded to client sites on long term projects, helping them implement new technology-driven processes.

As part of the Integration Services team at Auckland Council, I was involved in defining the integration requirements between SAP and numerous other transactional systems. My activities included requirements gathering, technical analysis, and solution design.

At the Auckland Transition Authority, I was one of two consultants developing extract, transform, and load (ETL) routines to migrate HR and Payroll data for over 8000 employees from old systems to a new SAP system. We used BusinessObjects Data Services and Microsoft SQL Server.

At the Inland Revenue Department and the Department of Corrections I developed SAP Web Dynpro (Java) applications for their SAP Enterprise Portal.

Alongside the technical aspects of the role I got great experience with project management, organisational change management, stakeholder management, technical writing, and more.
