During school or university, people work together on assignments, help each other study, and share notes. Squad is a way for these groups to maintain this peer support as they transition into the working world. Squad is more focused than Facebook and more personal than LinkedIn, without the noise of either.
I designed the with meaningful constraints aimed at promoting the right types of behaviours:
- There are no usernames and passwords—we use phone numbers instead. Messaging is facilitated by integrating with popular apps. It is not yet another social account.
- Squads find each other by selecting phone numbers already saved on their phones. It’s simple and encourages squads of people who know each other well.
- The app is mobile-only. It is a hotline to your professional inner circle in your pocket, not a way to kill time at work.
- The app is built around ‘guided interactions’ that help squad members stay up to date with each others’ careers, ask for help, share advice, and meet at local events.
To bring the concept to life for investors, I designed the brand, detailed user flows, and high-fidelity screens for an interactive prototype.
